The article discusses the controversy caused over the Harry Potter Series, which is a series that is the bomb.com and I feel bad for people who have not read the series in its entirety. There is a struggle on what to consider "literacy" that is discussed in the article, "literacy is understood to include not simply what we can do with printed matter but also what we can do with media." The main "Potter War" that the author addresses is media literacy and how it should be taught to children.
Collaboration is a way to bring multiple ideas together as one. The Harry Potter series encouraged many children to pick up books and live in an imaginary world. One student went as far as creating a virtual newspaper, "The Daily Prophet", which now incidents work from students from all around the world. This collaboration shows how important the novels are to millions of children. The series has encouraged multiple acts like similar to the creation of the Daily Prophet which improved not only their literacy with reading and writing, but also improved their media literacy.
Collaboration influences everyday writing in a multitude of ways. Earlier in the semester, when we were discussing plagiarism, it was mentioned that an idea cannot be entirely our own because our ideas were planted there from previous occasions. So I believe that the collaboration in everyday writing is the mixing of ideas that we, the authors, have gathered through multiple experiences and what makes it different and original is the way that we phrase the pieces.
