Week 13 Journal

What does it mean to collaborate? And what role does collaboration play in
everyday writing?

To collaborate is to work together with other people. When all the people are working together is is important to have a shared interest that you are discussing. It is a skill that all people need to have, because of the fact you use it in your everyday life. You need to be able to take constructive criticism and be able to give others constructive criticism without coming off rude. Most of the time collaboration is very helpful.  Like in zines, you find that people will work together to create them, and hold gatherings where zines are the focus. Collaborating is used to gain a new perspective and share ideas with the others you are collaborating with. I think this is important in everyday writing because of the sharing of ideas. In everyday writing, there is alway a reason for creating your text, and if it is to get a point across, you want your text to be effective in more eyes than just your own. When your collaborating you have many eyes on your text and you are able to discuss wether or not your text is effective, and if its not the others can share their ideas with you to make it more successful.
