Give me a summary of your responses to these questions:

1. What is writing?
2. What is a "writer"?
3. Where do you write?
4. What is everyday writing?

  1. Writing is a process where a person uses an instrument (pen, pencil, electronics) to record something. Writers typically write in calm and quiet areas. Everyday writing occurs on daily basis as compared to other forms of writing.

  2. I believe that "everyday writing" is basically any time pen meets paper (or fingers meet keyboard). Meaning, I think that everyday writing can be informal as well as formal. Some comments I received and saw on other peoples documents was that everyday writing should only be intellectual, specific, and well thought out. For examples, on a document I read a peer said that writing should be articles while another peer disagreed by saying that everyday writing can be a Facebook post.

  3. writing is the act of transcribing one's thoughts and ideas on to paper. A writer can be anyone who writes down their ideas no matter of thoughts or intelligence. Everyday writing is something normal; for example notes, emails, new stories and articles.

  4. The comments were mostly agreeing with my definitions and they all felt the same way I did. They liked my definition of a writer and also agreed with having to be in a quite area while writing. My definition of writing was a bit broad and needed more details other than just "thoughts and ideas". They both recommended that I add the words "written, typed, or printed" just to differentiate between writing and other actions such as speaking or thinking.

  5. One of the responses to my answers was how similar my answers were to the commentator's responses. I think many people wrote similar answers for most of these questions.

  6. 1. I think everybody has a general consensus about what "writing" is. Writing is people putting thoughts or opinions or whatever down on some form of material.
    2. A writer is typically somebody who writes professionally but it could be as a hobby as stated by one of my comments which is later contradicted by the second comment which says not everybody can be a writer.
    3. You can write anywhere, most people like to be somewhere comfortable.
    4. People agree that everyday writing is mostly casual.

  7. Emily and Sam did not agree with my definition of a "writer". Essentially they believe that a "writer" can be anyone who writes something. I believe that a "writer" has to have certain qualifications to be considered that, such as having experience in writing.

  8. A lot of answers I read were similar to mine. However, there were some things that did not occur to me as everyday writing, such as billboards and advertisements but Jeremy pointed that out to me in his answers.

  9. A piece of writing is permanent and can always be looked up and looked at. It serves an everyday purpose. Writing does not always have to be formal. It can be casual and doesn't necessarily have to be a published work.

  11. After the exercise I realized that my idea of what writing is was too narrow of a focus and needed to be expanded. What I thought writing focused on limited the topics of writing but I now see that writing can be about anything and there really are not any restrictions on what you write about. I put that everyday writing is the writing that we encounter everyday without putting effort into that encounter.

  12. One of the responses said that they believe everyone is a writer in some way because everybody writes at some point. The next posted note agreed with the first one on everyone being a writer. I think that may be a viewpoint that is a little to literal. They seemed to like my answer to #1.

  14. The comments that I received were complimentary and mentioned the detail I used when answering the given questions when I said that writing was typed, printed or written expression. The two students who reviewed my answers seemed to have agreed with what I wrote, and thought my definitions to be on point.

  15. I don't think that everyday writing has to have a meaning or make sense at all, it could be as simple as signing your name. My responses were similar to the others that i read.

  16. after seen the comments I would probably add to my definition of everyday writing.

  17. Writing is a way of putting information into readable media such as paper, electronics, or any surface of hard objects, and a writer is a person who performs such action. I personally write wherever I want as long as that place at least sustains my desire or need to write, such as my room. My definition of everyday writing is writing which a writer writes everyday or at least frequent enough.to say everyday such as notes, or memos.

  18. I also realized, like Kevin that one of my ideas was too narrow. I said that everyday writing was done for everyday purposes. After reading the comments, I now see that everyday writing doesn't always have to be done for a purpose. Also I would now say that a writer can be anyone and everyone and not someone that does it all the time.
