Rhetorical situation and genre are connected in that genre helps define the types of situations we see and generalize the sort of reaction the audiences are likely to give. Different genres develop certain standards and writers develop rhetorical situations to match those standards. Rhetorical situations suddenly become "Horror" or "Comedy", "Blues" or "Rock", they no longer are perfectly alone. Groups of people gain a disposistion towards one of these genres and later to rhetorical situations that writers make.
